On this crazy election day, a song.
Be Still My Soul
1 Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side; bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide; in every change He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heav'nly Friend through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
2 Be still, my soul; thy God doth undertake to guide the future as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; all now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul; the waves and winds still know His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.
3 Be still, my soul; when dearest friends depart, and all is darkened in the veil of tears,
then shalt thou better know His love, His heart, who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul; thy Jesus can repay from His own fullness all He takes away.
4 Be still, my soul; the hour is hast'ning on when we shall be forever with the Lord,
when disappointment, grief, and fear are gone, sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul; when change and tears are past, all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Praying for you and with you, brother. In light of eternity, and in light of the person of Christ, the occupations of our day seem very light.
ReplyDeleteShould the Lord tarry, all of today's concerns that seem so great will disappear like withering grass over the decades and centuries.
May God lead us to eternal pursuits.
We did early vote this year. I didn't know half the candidates I voted for and at least two were running unopposed. Mankind's governing system is so complicated.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about Jesus, He is the King of kings and Lord of lords and no one voted Him in. He willingly laid down His life to forgive mankind's sin past present and future then took His life up again at the resurrection and now offers His forgiveness of sin and eternal life to anyone that will believe and have faith in Him. With Jesus it is simply love and simply grace. No matter what the result of any election or person put in power, Jesus is and will always remain, King of kings and Lord of Lords.
